First,some background info:
My name is William (Buckey) Mooers and I am a proud Acadian First Nation Aboriginal.I originate from, and still reside,in the beautiful scenic village of Milton,Queens Co.,Nova Scotia with my wife Cindy and son Travis. My daughter,Angie, and family live in Buckfield about 50kms from Milton.
My family has artistic roots here: my talented father was Clarence (Bubby) Mooers and he was well known for his folk art. Many of his pieces can still be seen in many galleries and private collections. My grandfather was Andrew Mooers who was known for his skillfully crafted crooked knives which are still sought after to this day.My sister,Margaret (Cherry) Whynot is also a very talented craftswoman. Her creations include porcupine quill jewelery, medicine bags, beadwork, dream catchers, authentic aboriginal clothing, etc.
We are very proud of our heritage and we do our best to keep it alive in the crafts that we produce.
I began carving about 5 years ago.I am fortunate enough to be able to hunt Moose for my winter's meat and looking at the antlers one day a vision came to me and I haven't looked back since. My carvings are very realistic and I hope that when you view them here that you will enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed carving them.
I recently started to branch out into custom made moose antler and deer horn jewelery, pipes, powderhorns, drumming sticks, key rings, ankle bracelets, etc.
If you have your own trophy antlers and would like to have them turned into a work of art, contact me for pricing.
Thanks for visiting my site.It will be updated as I produce new pieces.
O'wel'lin (Thank You)
